This insect-and-zinnias series is the result of a trip to the zoo! I never expected my favorite animal photos from that day to be of a bee and a butterfly, but when I noticed what my husband had accidentally captured when he took some pictures of the beautiful zinnias, I knew I had to try my hand at bringing their personalities to life.

I always struggle with flowers, because my eye just gets lost in the multitudes of petals. But each of the insects gave me an anchor, and with patience and perserverance, I was able to produce some pastel pieces I'm very happy with.
