Big Blue

NEWS: Big Blue will be part of the 'Color Story' show at 80 Santa Fe Art Gallery in Overland Park, Kansas, from January 26 - March 16, 2026. I will be at the artist's reception sometime between 5-7pm on Friday, January 16. Come out and say hi while you see my Cosmic Candy Collection!

Oh, that big blue marble...or blueberry, in my imagination. It's our literal world, of course, but we're just one of many in the bunch, not even the only cluster on this particular plant. And yet, we're special.

That's a little bit of what I was thinking when I stuck our solar system into this blueberry bush. I also love the idea that the food we eat is literally made up of cosmic elements. That every part of ourselves was generated long ago. ...and if those thoughts are too big for this splash of color, well, I just think it's kind of fun.

About This Series

Artwork   Artwork

The Cosmic Candy series is a playful, less realistic take on the idea that everything is part of everything; we're all star-stuff, to lazily quote Carl Sagan. I've been fascinated with everything to do with space since I was a young child, whether that takes the form of science fiction or science fact. The images that we're able to capture these days through incredible scientific advances just blow my mind. There's so much beauty out there, and so much here on Earth, and I just can't help but combine the two.
