MYB Creations

Paintings and other creative imaginings by Michelle Y Bono

Statement

One day, when Michelle was about ten years old, she started crying inconsolably because she'd just realized that she'd never be able to actually step into the world inside the book she was reading. The words had painted a picture that felt so alive, so real, that it felt to her as if the boundaries between fiction and reality just couldn't be there.

Ever since then, she's been drawn to works that recreate that feeling - something so real that it feels like she can step through the frame. It's a feeling that she tries to bring into her own artwork. Whether she's drawing a squirrel or painting a mermaid, she strives to capture a sense that her subjects are alive. In motion. Looking back at you. Reaching out to touch you - or inviting you into their world.
