Sanctuary
If you visit the Nature Sactuary in Parkville, Missouri, and wend your way along the forested trails, you'll eventually come to a set of small but quite beautiful waterfalls. With the sunlit canopy overhead and the splash of the water on the rocks, I felt like I'd been transported to a magical place...a sanctuary, indeed.
Water always provides a challenge - how do you render something that is see-through, and yet always full of color, changing with its own motion and the light? Picking out various colors in the white spray of the fountain was a lot of fun, and I hope I conveyed some sense of that 'santuary' in this piece.

About This Series
This series is the result of a day spent hiking through the beautiful Parkville Nature Sanctuary. I found myself especially enamoured by the waterfall there, and how it really did feel like a magical sanctuary.
