Pastels on sanded paper. Sold.
This little lady is a beautiful American kestrel who lives at Lakeside Nature Center as one of their rehabilitated educational birds. I was delighted to donate this piece to aid in their efforts to rehabilitate injured wildlife and to educate the public about Missouri's native animals, plants, and their habitats.
One of the first pieces I did working with sanded paper, I really enjoyed discovering how I could use the 'tooth' of the paper to add layer after layer of color. While the males of the species are said to be the more vibrant, I found that 'Chetoh' had plenty vibrancy of her own.
